The Benevolent fund offers confidential counselling at St Michael’s Lodge, situated in the beautiful Ribble Valley in Langho (near Clitheroe), Lancashire.
This imposing early 20th century lodge was originally a village primary school from 1911 to 1983. The school house remained derelict until 1990 when it was converted into a privately owned hotel. The North West Police Benevolent fund purchased the building in 2008.
The lodge provides members with physiotherapy and is available for short breaks. The lodge is due to be expanded and the large extension will accommodate additional facilities which will be available to NWPBF members.
The counselling service is on a self-referral basis only. It offers a confidential approach to the issues that officers present with. The service is non-judgemental and complies with the ethical framework and guidelines of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Brief, confidential notes, will be kept at each counselling session and any identifying details will be omitted. Any documentation is kept in a secure unit. Notes are kept for 6 months after therapy contact and then destroyed.
The counselling service addresses a variety of issues, relationship problems (no couple sessions), stress and anxiety, bereavement and palliative care.
