The past three years has seen the NCOA develop from a concept, to the fastest growing Trade Union in the country and now by far the largest Trade Union within the NCA.
I am extremely proud of the achievements we have made in such a short space of time and still feel honoured that I was elected to steer us through some pretty choppy waters to where we are today.
It is significant that the success of the NCOA does not lie with one individual, it is undoubtedly due to the collective contributions of the National Executive Committee, NCOA staff, our army of volunteer reps and of course the continued support of you our members.
Given the unrivalled success we have all experienced, it is with a degree of regret that I have decided to retire from law enforcement and will also therefore, be stepping down as Chairman of the NCOA.
However, having recently been appointed to take up a full time position with the NCOA I will remain fully immersed in NCA issues from a position of experience and knowledge, having worked alongside you all as an officer myself since 2006.
The NEC has been pulling out all the stops to ensure that there is a seamless transition to deliver ‘business as usual’. As a result, I am delighted to announce that Steve Bond will be stepping up as NCOA Chairman once I take up my position working alongside Simon Bashford, the newly appointed NCOA President.
Having worked alongside Steve in a representative capacity over a number of years, I cannot think of anyone better to act as Chairman particularly as we continue to engage on the long awaited NCA Pay Reform exercise.
Whilst the NCA continues to experience significant change, I am confident that the NCOA is well equipped to represent you under Steve’s leadership and wish him every success.
