Mental Health Awareness Training
October 9, 2018
To mark World Mental Health Awareness Day the NCOA are again inviting all Members to undertake the free Understanding Mental Health Awareness Training available via Sussex Downs TU College.
The feedback from Members who have already completed this distance learning CPD opportunity is that they feel more confident in having conversations with colleagues and friends about wellbeing and mental health and a number of you have used this knowledge to signpost colleagues to seek further assistance. Any member wishing to undertake this training should contact Faye Lowe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your NEC originally launched this training in response to concerns raised by members and in the absence of any equivalent training being available in the NCA. You will recall that in the latest Under Cover magazine we published the results of our own Mental Health and Stress Survey. Over 78% of NCOA respondents reported that they would welcome basic training in common Mental Health conditions, and were willing to offer support to colleagues. Read those results on pages 12-13 of Under Cover magazine issue 9 at www.ncoa.org.uk or see a copy which is available at every NCA site.
The full shocking results of the survey have now been provided to members of the NCA Board who have been invited to provide a response which we will publish in the next edition of Under Cover.
I look forward to hearing from Members.
