Changes to rules on London Weighting Payments

4/25/2014

The Employer has announced that it intends:

  • To limit the NCA locations that qualify for the payment of LWA to those sites that lie within the M25 boundary.
  • To apply to new recruits and to current NCA officers not in receipt of LWA but who move, or are moved, through either lateral or on promotion to a site that previously qualified for LWA.

The NCOA has been informed by the NCA executive that . . . “No current officers in receipt of LWA are affected by this proposal ‘at this stage’. The future approach for officers currently sited at the locations where LWA has been ‘disapplied’ has not yet been determined”.

The total number of NCA officers in receipt of LWA is 2379, of whom some 550 are located at offices outside of the M25 boundary, where the NCA propose is to cease paying London Weighting.

The NCOA has strenuously defended the right of all officers who joined and were contracted to receive London Weighting, to continue so to do and, has raised the issue at the recent National Crime Agency Remuneration Review Body panel hearing.

Members are urged to attend meetings being organised by NCOA Representatives in order to voice their concerns in advance of further meetings planned with the employer on this matter

Members are also reminded that they can provide their views/feedback independently via the NCOA Website www.ncoa.org,uk via the “Contact Us” Page.
