UPDATE ON PAY ON PROMOTION

2/5/2020

NCOA members

You will recall our bulletin of the 21st October which outlined our challenge to the Agency regarding pay uplifts upon promotion. This followed a decision which had been made contrary to existing Policy and operating procedures, in order to make an award of 10% to a group of internal candidates successful in the G2 to G1 campaign.

Whilst we were intent to endorse the increased payment to these valued members of the NCOA, it was on the proviso that this process would set a precedent for future promotions - at all grades, where the promotion uplift is set at 5%.

Having driven this forward we are delighted to report that on the 18th December, the Remuneration Committee endorsed this pay principal and agreed to formally introduce an Agency wide 10% pay uplift upon promotion. Significantly, they also agreed that it would be applied retrospectively to mirror the timing of the G1 promotion activity last May.

As well as securing a well-earned bonus for those successful in promotion campaigns, we believe this may also provide additional incentive for those who previously saw little financial benefit of seeking promotion which requires considerable effort, increased responsibility – for modest reward.

If you believe this decision affects you, then we advise you to make contact in writing or email with the HR Business Liaison Unit in the first instance.
