The National Crime Officers Association (NCOA) has an exciting new opening for a Case Coordinator at our London Office.

As the trade union representing officers in the National Crime Agency, we support and represent officers’ who are engaged in the investigation of serious and organised crime in the UK and overseas. The NCOA is committed to an effective and independent Trade Union that meets the needs of its members.

 

Job Description:

 The NCOA Case Coordinator has a pivotal role in maintaining accurate records of its members grievance misconduct, capability and vetting investigations and is the central point of contact between NCOA members, workplace representatives, lawyers and National Officers.

The Case Coordinator will have a proactive and self-motivated approach to work both as part of a team and independently. They will often be the first contact for members who require assistance. The Case Coordinator needs to be a strong communicator, organised and have demonstrative experience of managing their time against competing demands, with an ability to prioritise work effectively.

The successful applicant needs to display an ability to use individual initiative and most importantly, a commitment to supporting our cadre of NCOA ‘volunteer’ representatives and Trade Union officials.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the NCOA President on all NCOA member personal casework matters.
  • Be the first point of contact for NCOA members reporting personal casework matters
  • Co-ordinate all Grievance, Misconduct, Capability and Vetting issues – including case allocation
  • Liaison with NCA HR Conduct Unit
  • Liaison with NCA Complex Case Team
  • Liaison with National Officers and dedicated NCOA legal providers on Employment Law matters
  • Maintain an extensive case schedule
  • Maintain a schedule of all reps’ current cases
  • Maintain and manage/coordinate updates on member database records and NCOA Personal Case Forms
  • Quality assures legal advice referral forms prior to submission to NCOA legal providers.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of managing complex workloads including meeting defined timescales for submission of casework
  • Ability to understand complex information including legal advice.
  • Experience of preparing complex written reports
  • Strong organisations skills (this will be essential to ensure that Employment Tribunal, ACAS conciliation and Personal Injury timescales are met).
  • Good IT skills including Office 365, Word & Excel
  • Experience of use of databases.
  • Experience of dealing with sensitive information.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of employment law. **Subject to existing qualifications already held, the successful candidate will be expected to achieve an Employment Law Diploma within 18 months (funded by NCOA with and appropriate time off) **
  • Experience of making presentations to groups.
  • Previous experience of court attendance and working with legal representatives.
  • Previous experience of achieving security vetting.

 

Location

This role is office based in our Head Office in Whitechapel, London. The NCOA allows its employees to work from home on a hybrid basis although the successful candidate will be expected to attend NCOA HQ each week.

 

Hours

This is a part-time role (3 days per week). The days worked will be by mutual agreement between the Case Coordinator and the NCOA President. The NCOA normal working day is 7 ½ hours.

 

Salary

£50,000 p.a. (Pro-rata to £30,000)

The work NCOA members undertake is vital to public security and therefore applicants will be required to engage with National Crime Agency officers. As a result, pre-employment checks (which include a security clearance review) will be undertaken by the NCOA prior to any appointment being confirmed. In addition, open-source due diligence checks will also be undertaken for all short-listed candidates.
